Finding Steadiness in the Storm

Finding Steadiness in the Storm is a gentle mindfulness practice for those moments when emotion feels strong and it is easy to become swept up in thoughts, tension, or reactivity.

Inspired by Thích Nhất Hạnh’s teaching of the tree in a storm, this meditation guides you to find one steady anchor, such as your feet, hands, the support beneath you, a sound, the breath, or a hand over the heart, while allowing the emotion itself to be present.

The practice is not about making the feeling disappear. It is about learning how to stay connected to something steady while the feeling moves through, so this becomes a tool you can use in everyday life as well as in meditation.

This meditation is part of Softening Inner Tension: 30 Days of Mindfulness, Compassion & Emotional Ease, a free September practice available inside the Peaceful Wellness Skool community. Each day includes a short reflection, one question, and a simple mindfulness practice.
