Today, I had a session with a regular sound healing client, and as I was preparing for her treatment, I had a strong sense that I needed to focus on her back. The day before, I had set up the massage and sound tables, placing crystals at the crown table, but something kept nudging me to adjust the plan. I instinctively felt that the face cradle, rather than the crystal board, should be used instead.
When my client arrived, I asked her how she was doing, and she revealed that she had hurt her back. I smiled and shared with her that I had a feeling this morning that the session would need to focus on her back, and sure enough, it was confirmed.
I followed my intuition and began with a sonic massage using two singing bowls. First, she lay on her belly while I placed one bowl on her lower back and used the second bowl on the body from her neck to her shoulders. I then moved it down to her calves, shins, and feet, striking both bowls in a steady rhythm to promote relaxation and release tension.
After she turned over, I continued with the same technique for the front of her body, except for the feet. To allow the energy to fully integrate, I played a 10-minute rainstick session. I then followed up with light playing of crystal bowls, the sansula, drumming on the monochord, and finally, gongs, chakapa, and koshi chimes to finish the session.
When she sat up, she told me that her back felt so much better. This experience reminded me of the importance of tuning in with your client and trusting your intuition. As practitioners, it’s vital to stay connected to our higher wisdom, even before the client arrives, to ensure we’re delivering exactly what is needed for their healing.
I’m so grateful to be able to honor my intuition and guide my clients in this way.
